It’s not even the Superbowl and I already have a favorite commercial…
The experiment mentioned is available in full HERE.
Portuguese designer Susana Soares has developed a device for detecting cancer and other serious diseases using trained bees. The bees are placed in a glass chamber into which the patient exhales; the bees fly into a smaller secondary chamber if they detect cancer.
Scientists have found that honey bees - Apis mellifera - have an extraordinary sense of smell that is more acute than that of a sniffer dog and can detect airborne molecules in the parts-per-trillion range.
Bees can be trained to detect specific chemical odours, including the biomarkers associated with diseases such as tuberculosis, lung, skin and pancreatic cancer.
FUCKING SAVE THE BEES THEYRE MIRACLE WORKERS OK
It’s actually hard to find a mate for playing with same energy level as Xiu Xiu has. So she quickly became friends with Deri and they were running circles together for 2 hours. I must admit two vallhunds are unstoppable force. And it’s better than one.
It’s true: Vallhunds are happiest when playing with other Vallhunds. I thought it was poppycock until we got Rocky. Fenris has dog park buddies he loves to play with, but no one gets his play style like Rocky. Doggy joy for the shorties is tussling with each other.
If you had a friend dealing with the same things, you wouldn’t berate that person, say, ‘You’re not working hard enough,’ ‘You suck,’ or ‘You’re not as good as [whomever].’ You’d offer your friend encouragement, you’d try to point out all the things your friend did right, and how much progress your friend had made.
You should do no less for yourself.Be very careful how you talk to yourself. Because you are listening."
